Understanding the Federal Battery Rebate
The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program provides eligible NSW households with up to $6,200 off battery storage. Here's what you need to know before the next step-down.
What Is the Rebate?
Eligible homeowners can receive up to $6,200 off the installed cost of a home battery system through the federal Home Battery Incentive. The rebate is applied directly at point of sale — you never pay the full price. Solar panels also qualify for over $3,800 in STC rebates.
When Does It Change?
The federal battery rebate steps down on 1 January 2027. Installations contracted before that date are protected at the current rate of up to $6,200. Acting now locks in the higher rebate and avoids the reduction.
What to Expect
